Bassinaud Players are an amateur theatre company based in the southern Charente. Our open-air productions are typically performed in June and September each year, and this year we performed our fifth Shakespeare comedy on our new, purpose-built stage. We are a registered association with a growing membership from many backgrounds, all of whom enjoy helping us to stage the best productions we can whilst having fun.

Our team is made up of passionate and talented individuals, including actors, directors, designers, and technicians. Together, we work tirelessly to bring our productions to life.
We are delighted that our audiences come from far and wide to enjoy our productions. Our performances are in English but we try to make them as accessible as possible.

Bassinaud Players began in 2022 when a group of us got together to put on a one-off production of William Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. We, and the audience, enjoyed it so much we decided to put on another play later that year and we've been going ever since.

In 2025 we became a not-for-profit association, registered under the Associations law of July 1, 1901 which guarantees the freedom to form a group for the common good. Membership is open to anyone who wishes to be actively involved in achieving our aims.

Bassinaud is the small hamlet where many of our productions take place. Audiences enjoy picnicking in the meadow before taking their place under the trees to watch the performance. Bassinaud is owned by two of our founding members.
